Wrap Up in Style: Puffers

It’s officially winter now and your search for the perfect winter coat should just be starting. This season’s absolute must-have is a puffer jacket. Actually, I’m secretly pleased that puffers are back (come on, who isn’t?) and we can finally slip into some more laid back outfits for the cooler months.

Clearly, oversized fashion hasn’t been invented yesterday, not even a year ago. But winter fashion of previous seasons was mainly focused on tailored coats and chic boyfriend-style pieces. However, this season, the fashion world has experienced a major switch to shapeless and oversized outwear — the comforter-esque puffer.

Last season, puffers were only spotted at the catwalks of those unconventional brands like Vetements and Moschino. Perhaps these were the game-changing shows as puffers re-emerged on the runways this season. Designers let their models down the catwalks wearing puffers in every size, colour, shape and crop imaginable — without a second thought, and they look effortlessly cool. The trend has been enthusiastically taken up by the high street, so we have so many choices that are not total bank-breakers.

This is the perfect coat no matter the weather, so upgrade your winter warming strategies with one of these numbers. Be adventurous and defy the grey weather with these dazzling pieces in silver or gold. If you’re up for something less sparkly, go for a satin puffer in dusty pink or velvet piece in rich colours. My absolute favourite is this playful piece in blue from Lazy Oaf (they also have one in pink). I’m in love with this British brand and their adventurous approach. Fashion is about fun indeed.
